Radio Controlled Toys
If you grew up in the 80's or 90's, then you certainly know the thrill of playing with radio controlled toys. They are so much fun for children to play with on the street in front of their home. The thrill of controlling these vehicles via wireless radio waves sets many people off to make it their hobby for the rest of their lives. The excitement of watching your car speed down the street - perhaps against others in its class make this type of toy addictive. It really doesn't matter if your preference is to control a boat, a plane or a truck or car, the thrill of getting the most out of your radio controlled toy is mesmerizing for adults as well as children.
Road vehicles that include trucks, Army tanks, cars, jeeps, monster trucks and buses can often be run right in front of your home on the street. You need to be careful about heavy obstacles in the road and often the texture of the road. If it's rough, or full of potholes, you'll need to slow down a bit and manuever around those holes. This can be a blast when racing against your friends. The ideal place to run your vehicles would be a large smooth cement slab or sidewalk. Sidewalks don't often give you the room most people like when racing these vehicles but train the user to manuever around objects very well. Radio controlled toys like this are outstanding gifts for boys and girls older than 7. They are especially popular with kids between 8-12.
On the other end of the spectrum are radio controlled boats, helicopters and airplanes. These are slightly more sophisticated and generally a little more expensive than rc vehicles that are played with on the ground. Boats, in particular, are often owned by adults whose hobby it is to race or cruise their boats across lakes, park ponds, slow-moving rivers and canals. RC airplanes and helicopters offer the most challenge for those who take the hobby up. Airplanes and helicopters are often gas-powered but radio controlled meaning that you need to know a little about how to take care of small engines. Most people who make it their hobby prefer to buy pre-assembled airplanes and helicopters and then after they've flown them a few times get encouraged to change out some of the parts. Airplanes and helicopters also need space. It's not uncommon for adult and teenage hobbyists to form clubs and get together on the weekends for flying fun.
Radio controlled toys make great gifts for anyone, young or old, looking to develop a hobby or just to have fun. They're not too expensive and will thrill the one who receives one.
