Golf Sets

Buying individual golf clubs can be quite expensive - especially for the beginning golfer. More and more beginning golfers are discovering that purchasing complete golf sets is wiser and much more affordable. Getting a good and complete golf sets is a great way to get the best deals available from the best golf shops. It may be perfect for the golfing neophyte and weekend golfers.

So what's the best golf set to buy? Well, first you need to know what makes up a complete set of golf clubs. The simplest answer is that there are four primary types of clubs that go into a complete set of clubs: woods, irons, wedges, and putters.

Oh, did I mention the hybrid clubs? A hybrid club is a cross between an iron and a wood. You are allowed 14 clubs in your golf bag in a game. The golf clubs can be any combination of 14 clubs that you choose. A good golf set then, should have at least 14 clubs in it.

Buying a new set or a used set is really up to you. If you're just a casual weekender, a used set may be just what you need. If you want a set because you plan to take up gold more seriously, perhaps competitively, or if you need to impress others, then a new golf set would be in order. Whatever you do, remember that a used set of clubs may come with s few problems and faults. Worn grips, fractured shafts, or other issues are more common than you might think so check the used sets out carefully. Make sure the set you buy has been guaranteed by the seller. A quality golfing store rarely sell defective equipment because someone is there to check the clubs out. Lesser-known stores on the other hand, may not be so conscientious.

To make things more convenient for the person just starting out in golfing, manufacturers have put together starter sets. These complete golf sets usually include a Driver, 3 Woods, 5 Woods, #3 through #9 Irons, a Pitching Wedge and a Putter - all inside a nice golf bag. As your game improves, you can worry about other clubs like hybrids, to fill your bag.

Anyone just starting out should not limit themselves to just buying a complete set of golf clubs. A new buyer should be prepared to purchase a lot of golf balls, a few good books, DVD training guides, and other training aids. Golf is not an easy game. It takes training and practice. You can shorten your learning curve by getting the best instruction you can afford. Books and DVDs will help you learn more about the game and help you improve your strokes, your stance, your etiquette and lots more. Finding a good semi-pro or professional instructor may also be a fast way to improve your golf handicap. Golf is fun and when you can intelligently and skillfully use the new golf set you bought, it becomes a whole lot of fun.

As far as golf balls go, start out with the cheapest available because you're probably going to lose a lot of them. As your golfing skills and accuracy improves, you should purchase balls that may help your game.
