Buying a Bushnell Telescope

With the growing interest in astronomy, it's only natural that there would be a corresponding interest in telescopes that allow us to observe the night skies. Almost everyone has taken notice of the beautiful pictures that the orbiting Hubble Telescope has given us of the various phenomena in our Galaxy. These pictures have captured the imagination and awe of amateur astronomers everywhere on the earth.  The Bushnell brand of optics has been a popular way for amateurs to get first-hand views and pictures of the earth's night sky. They've been in business for more than 50 years and are considered top-of-the-line when it comes to binoculars. Hunters and those who have served in military reconnaissance know the Bushmell name very well. Bushnell makes excellent refractor telescopes. They are perfect for beginners because they are lightweight, portable and easy to set up.

Whether you look at the stars at night or the wildlife during the day refractor-type Bushnell telescopes are good choices. Reflector telescopes on the other hand, are usually heavier and bigger, but are excellent for seeing finer details at night. They often have larger aperture openings that allow you to view distant objects in night skies.

Before you buy any telescope, make sure to get a good solid tripod with it. Without it, you may find yourself picking up your telescope after a strong gust of wind. Just make sure the telescope does not shake or move or you'll get a distorted picture of view of the object you are viewing. The more serious-minded star gazer may want a computerized Bushnell telescope. This allows him to plug in coordinates and the time of day, select an object from its menu and let the telescope find it for him. It's best to get this type of telescope with a computerized mount to stay pointed at a particular location while the Earth rotates.

Whichever telescope you decide to buy, try to find a good deal.  Bushnell telescopes can often be found on eBay for a very low price. I've placed an eBay portal on this page for you to make it easy to search for a new or used Bushnell telescope if that's what you want. There's a lot happening in the night sky and with our continuing efforts to expand our exploration bases to the moon and Mars, it makes it essential for us to understand more about our place in the Universe.
