It often seems like desktop computers are a vanishing breed. Notebook computers are taking their place and for good reasons: Laptop computers can do everything the desktop can do; notebook computer screens are now larger and brighter; Laptops are getting lighter and easier to tote around; wireless connectivity to devices of all kinds is easier than ever. Go to any Starbucks or the lobbies of just about every large bank or office in almost any city and you will find a wireless internet connection.
Each new generation of notebooks brings breakthroughs: dual core notebooks, PCI Express,Sonoma Chipsets, increased storage, increased RAM, faster CPUs, better battery life and better wireless access and Cellular Modem Connections. These innovations have combined to drive their demand.
If you're in the market for a new notebook computer, there are certain accessories you must have. These laptop accessories will greatly enhance your notebook experience and make you more productive either in your business or personal computing life.
So without further ado, here's the list:
1. Carrying Bag or Backpack - Absolutely necessary if you will be traveling. A wheeled bag if you can afford it for those heavy extras you may carry with your laptop. Laptop carrying bags that also have plenty of compartments for all those notebook peripherals. Try the bag out with your notebook before buying. Make sure it fits comfortably and has enough room for everything you plan to carry in it.
2. An Extra Battery - Since most batteries last fewer than 4 hours you will definitely need an extra battery or two AND don't forget to get an external battery for your laptop.
3. A USB docking Port station - It's often a real hassle dealing with all those wires and connections on your laptop - that's where your port replicator or docking station solves your problem. Plug all your peripherals into the docking station or port replicator - This allows you to easily connect and disconnect your notebook computer without having to locate all those wires and connections. Very convenient and highly recommended.

4. Car and Airline ac adapter - Another business essential laptop accessory if you travel a lot. Having a handy source of ac power from your car or from an airliner makes common sense! But you knew this, right?
5. Wireless Card - Most laptops and notebooks now come with a wireless card. Many top brands have 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g or all three! If your notebook doesn't have a wireless card, you can get a rather inexpensive 802.11b Linksys PC Card adapter. If you can get a built-in cellular modem with your notebook computer, take it. Look for an integrated EDGE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth compatibility for great and effortless wireless networking
EDGE is 'Enhanced Data for Global Evolution' through the new AT&T Wireless national network. They recently bought out Cingular Networks and so may enhance the service;
6. Thumb-drives for external storage and sharing - Most notebooks or laptops now come with a 100+ gig hard drives, but if you download and save a lot of movies or songs you will fill that storage space fast. For storage or back-up, thumb-drives are a great accessory for notebooks. I particularly like them because they are so easy to use in your USB ports and so easy to unplug and share with other notebook computers or desktops Check out the video about them here:
7. External DVD Burner - Laptops now come with built-in DVD drives but for DVD burning (movies, songs, videos, etc.) get an external DVD burner for your notebook. Be sure to get one that supports both DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW formats so you can playback or record anything.
8. A Wireless Keyboard and Mouse - a wireless desktop style keyboard and mouse are pretty cheap to buy and you will never regret having done so. The flexibility and ease of use they give you make it a must have for anyone who works on his/her notebook computer more than 2 hours a day.
