Callaway Golf Clubs

Callaway golf clubs stand supreme in the world of golf. Well-known for their cutting-edge designs, reliability and durability, it's hard to go wrong choosing a set of Callaway golf clubs or even just a single driver or putter.

Richard C. Helmstetter designed the first Callaway golf clubs. With the vision of founder Ely Callaway whose name the clubs carry and the designing skills of Helstetter, truly innovative high-performance golf equipment began leaving their manufacturing floors in California. Callaway Golf was originally located in Cathedral City, California but soon after the company formed, they relocated to Carlsbad, CA, just north of San Diego.

One of the newer designs that the firm came up with was a stainless steel driver with a larger and more forgiving head. No one had that yet and at the time of its release, it was met with welcome arms in a growing market hungry for something different. It became known affectionately as 'Big Bertha' after a German cannon back in WWI. The cannon was famous for its ability to shoot long distances. Big Bertha made Callaway golf clubs a household name in the United States and the company sold millions of them.

The company continues to originate new products and improve already-existing products to keep Callaway golf clubs like drivers, woods and putters at the cutting edge of the market. In fact, in 2003, Callaway Golf became the first golf manufacturer to be awarded more than 100 US patents in a single year; proof-positive of their commitment to bring only the best to market.

To understand how Callaway Golf Clubs compare to other golf club manufacturers, you need only look at their development:

1986, Callaway golf clubs - first to use computer controlled milling machines, ensuring the flatness of their putter surfaces;

1995 - number one selling driver on PGA, LPGA, Senior PGA, Nike and European PGA tours. Company became top-seller of irons and woods in the world;

1996 - became the world's largest manufacturer of golf clubs - Callaway Golf Ball Company was formed;

1997 - Sales increased to $849 million - 3 times larger than the its nearest competitor;

2003 - Callaway Golf Clubs become the top-ranked brand in woods, putters and irons for seven consecutive years;

2007 - 17 products on the Golf Digest Hot List including irons, woods, drivers and golf balls - all named by Editor's Choice hot list;

Is more evidence needed? I think not. Any astute observer can see that Callaway Golf clubs are the best in the industry. Criticism often comes however, when one looks at the prices of Callaway golf clubs. A new set of golf clubs from Callaway can easily set you back $2,000 or more.

Now at first glance, you might not think there is much of a difference between Callaway prices and prices from other major golf club manufacturers. After all, a good set of golf clubs will almost always cost at least $1200-$2000. Callaway, overall, keeps its prices in line with other manufacturers but gives extra value in its warranties and innovative designs.

What about those people who just want to smack the ball around a little? Those who aren't serious golfers? If you do not want to spend as much on golf clubs, try buying used golf clubs. You can always buy used Callaway golf clubs on eBay or even perhaps your local yard sale or thrift shops. Just be careful of imitation Callaway golf clubs - the fakes.

Fake Callaway golf clubs are most often manufactured in foreign countries known for their brand imitations and sold on the world market. To avoid this, go to a genuine Callaway golf clubs shop and feel the real Callaway golf clubs and equipment. After you've handled the real thing, you will get better at telling the fakes from the genuine articles.

Genuine used Callaway golf clubs come highly recommended. It is possible to find them if you look hard enough. Try the classifieds in your town. Of course, if you want to be sure you're getting the real thing, you can buy certified pre-owned used Callaway golf clubs. Callaway pre-owned golf clubs are great because the used golf clubs come with a warranty and are checked for orginal manufacturing specifications;

Certified used Callaway golf clubs are like certified used automobiles. You get a limited warranty and you know what you are getting. Just be certain that the golf club dealer you go to is authorized by Callaway to sell certified pre-owned used Callaway golf clubs. If not, you might want to go elsewhere.

At present, there are six classifications of the Callaway Golf club. The first classification is the drivers which are comprised of two models which are the Big Bertha Fusion FT4 and Big Bertha Titanium 454. The next classification of Callaway golf club is called the Fairway Woods. Fairway Woods have three types of clubs which are Big Bertha Fusion Fairway Woods, Big Bertha Titanium Fairway Woods, and Big Bertha Fairway Woods. The next classification of the Callaway golf club is a hybrid which is designed for long and distant shots. The model for this type of Callaway golf club is called Big Bertha Heavenwood Hybrids. The next classification is called irons which are divided into five types of models and these are Big Bertha, Big Bertha Fusion, X-Tour, X-18, and X-18 Pro. Another classification of the Callaway golf club would be the wedges and the model here is called Forged+ Wedges. The last classification for Callaway golf club is called the Putters. The Putters have two models in its classification which are Callaway golf I-Trax Putter and tour Blue. The classification and models of Callaway Gold Club mentioned above are the ones that the firm manufactures. All of these models were made in the lieu with science, research, and practice. All of these models are worth a try and who knows? You might be the next Tiger Woods in the world of golf.
