Canon Cameras: The Evolution
In 1933, a Japanese company known as the Canon Corporation set out and decided to invent and produce superior class cameras. In 1934, the earliest camera was introduced and was surprisingly widely accepted by the public. In 1936, the company introduced a 35mm Canon cameras that featured focal plane shutters. During this time, the newly added features for the camera were considered the first of its kind. The Canon Company has continued to improve the features of the Canon cameras since then. Years later, the company decided to expand in production of electronic gadgets including the trendy and space-conserving plasma television. The company has also produced several valuable and user-friendly office equipments such as photo copiers and printers. This bold venture has increased the productivity of the company so much so that it is said that they now have a roster of approximately 100,000 personnel internationally. The company is now estimated to be worth 38 billion dollars.
One of the great things about the Canon company is that they present us with an extensive variety of cameras and accessories to choose from including compact cameras, film, digital, video, SLR, rangefinders, to projectors, lenses, filters and so much more. They have developed different lens mounts such as FD, FL, EF, FX, or R that come with a specific camera model that sets up the lens to the body of the camera.
Canon cameras, whether film or digital type, are well equipped with the latest technology. However, due to the decline in customer demand, the film cameras are slowly being pulled out of the market. The digital models, on the other hand, are being enhanced and now come added features such as Charge Coupled Devices (CCD) and Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductors (CMOS) sensors that capture and processes images in no time. Picture elements called pixels are incorporated in every camera which when increased in number, is associated to the finer quality that the photograph will turn out to be.
In 1987, the company developed and launched the Canon Electro Optical System (EOS) camera which became the blueprint of all the 40 other SLR models that followed. In this type of camera, the EF lens mount was added to the camera and replaced the old FD mounts. This new lens allowed the photographer to take clear shots of fast moving objects that were not possible before.
The Canon cameras' power shot series paved the way for producing compact cameras that has a high resolution fixed lens. These cameras sell from $100 to a whopping $3000.
The Canon cameras' sure shot series are film cameras fit for amateur photographers. This camera is compact, lightweight and costs roughly from $75 to at least $150.
