Symptoms of Lung Cancer
Lung cancer is a very serious disease and everyone should make themselves aware of the symptoms. Cancer is a collection of abnormal cell in a specific location. The cells can spread to other locations throughout the body and infect those areas with cancer as well.
Lung cancer is when the collection of the cells are within the lungs and are uncontrollable.
Statistics revealed some disturbing evidence. More individuals in the United States die every year of lung cancer than any of the many other types of cancers. Many people are under the misconception that lung cancer is not one of the cancers that can be prevented. However, it can be. Even when there are symptoms of lung cancer in a person, there still is a possibility of a full recovery. Early detection, diagnosis and treatment is vital to stopping the lung cancer from taking over your body.
Knowing the symptoms and being able to recognize them in their early stages is important. However, not everyone that is diagnosed with lung cancer experiences symptoms. You should notify your medical care provider if you are experiencing any symptoms whatsoever with your lungs. Even if you think it could be a simple chest cold. Here is a brief list of some of the most commonly reported symptoms:
* Pneumonia, bronchitis and other lung related issues can be a sign of lung cancer.
* Breathing becomes more like a task than a natural action. Trouble breathing could be a warning sign or symptom of some type of blockage within the lungs.
* Wheezing that you never had before. This is not associated with asthma. Also the throat can become irritated and sore. This could very well be a symptom of a collection of cancerous cells in the lungs or even the tubes that travel down to and connect to the lungs.
* Frequent coughing and sometimes blood. This could be considered similar to a smoker's cough, however even non-smokers can experience it. If there is any blood at all immediately notify your doctor and set up an appointment to be seen.
Many people dismiss the symptoms of lung cancer and consider these symptoms to be a simple chest cold, or life taking its toll on them. However, dismissing these symptoms can be the worst decision you will ever make. Contact your doctor if you feel you might be experiencing any of the above mentioned symptoms. Even if it turns out to be nothing serious you will be glad you took the initiative. If you are a smoker, were a smoker or are subjected to second hand smoke you really need to pay close attention to what your body is telling you. Also, if you have a family history of lung cancer you will have an elevated risk of being diagnosed with lung cancer. Be aware of your body and any changes that you can not honestly explain.
