Causes of Cancer
Most people think that cancer is caused only by unhealthy habits like smoking tobacco or overindulging in alcohol or drugs or overeating or obesity. Others believe that overexposure to sunlight or exposure to asbestos or other carcinogens causes cancer. All of those bad habits certainly can lead to cancer. Dig a little deeper however, and you find also that an overacidic body that comes from overindulging in acidic drinks and foods is also a primary cause of the breakdon in cell structure in the human body. When cells don't function properly or normally, it can usually be traced to high levels of acid in the cells from overindulging in certain types of processed foods and highly acidic drinks like alcohol and soda pop. Cancer cells grow well in acidic conditions. The solution is to alkalize your body fluids and tissues to a pH of 8 or 9 and then maintain it. Alkalizing is the opposite of acidifying. Certainly, there is plenty of research evidence and results to prove them correct.
Not many people however, realize that at least 25% of maignancies are caused by viruses, bacteria and parasites. In other words, infection is the number two cause of cancer after smoking. Millions of Americans are infected with cancer-causing organisms at some time during their lives, most do not develop cancer. Other factors work together with infectious organisms to trigger the biological changes that lead to cancers. Here are a few of the most common bacteria and viruses that can set off a chain reaction leading to cancer:
- Helicobacter pylori - 30-40% of Americans are infected with this screw-shaped bacterium that drills into the stomach lining and causes chronic inflammation. 20% will eventually develop ulcers and another 5% will develop stomach cancer. More than 80% of stomach cancer cases are caused by this bacterium. If you have a family history of stomach cancer, you should get your own stomach checked for this bacterium. Eating a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables and low in salt and food preservatives may reduce your risk of developing cancer.
- Epstein-Barr Virus - EBV causes infectious mononucleosis that leads to extreme tiredness and other flu-like symptoms. This virus is often found in the tumors of those with Hodgkin's disease - a form of lymphoma cancer. If your immune system is weak and you have this virus, you need to strengthen your immune system as soon as possible.
- Hepatitis B - linked to liver cancer;
- Hepatitis C - linked to liver cancer - be careful with those tattoos;
- Human papilloma virus - linked to cervical cancer. There is an HPV vaccine that appears to be very effective that is now available.
As research continues in this area, it is possible that other bacteria and viruses may show up in the link leading to cancer. The bottom line is that high-acid drinks and foods along with environmental carconogens cause cancerous cells to multiply. To avoid cancers of all kinds, keep your body's pH level above 7.5. Doing so will help your immune system function at optimum levels and prevent deadly bacteria and viruses from invading your body and causing infections that lead to cancers.
